Dit evenement markeert een frisse start en biedt ons de kans om nieuwe energie in het netwerk te brengen en betekenisvolle dialoog te bevorderen tussen mensen en culturen. \n\nEen avond voor vrede\, dialoog en verbinding\nMet bijdragen van prominente stemmen uit Israël en Palestina\, waaronder Dr. Yossi Beilin en Dr. Hiba Husseini\, en speciale aandacht voor samenwerking tussen vrouwenorganisaties Itach Ma’aki en de Jerusalem Council for Women\, staat deze bijeenkomst in het teken van hoop\, begrip en vredesopbouw. DESCRIPTION:***English version below*** \nOp 24 oktober zal er een concert plaatsvinden van Marokkaanse zanger Walid Ben Selim wat deel uit maakt van de serie Arabic Crossroads\, een initiatief van Culture Connection in samenwerking met diverse partners. Deze serie biedt een podium voor kunstenaars uit Noord-Afrika en het Midden-Oosten\, die culturele bruggen bouwen en een krachtige boodschap van solidariteit en vrede uitdragen. \nWalid Ben Selim treedt op donderdag 24 oktober op in TivoliVredenburg\, waar hij samen met pianiste Agathe Di Piro en qanun-speler Nidhal Jaoua een muzikale hommage brengt aan de Palestijnse dichter Mahmoud Darwish. De avond begint met een boeiend voorprogramma\, waarin Maureen Ghazal\, Randa Awad en het koor Duniya & Musicaz optreden. Bezoekers kunnen voorafgaand aan het concert genieten van Palestijnse lekkernijen en boeken in de foyer. \nWalid Ben Selim\, die eerder samenwerkte met Utrechtse artiesten zoals dj DNA en Jaber Fayad\, staat bekend om zijn vermogen om Arabische poëzie te verweven in een moderne urban sound met zijn band N3rdistan. Daarnaast componeert hij voor film en opera. \nMahmoud Darwish wordt erkend als de belangrijkste 20e-eeuwse dichter van het Midden-Oosten. In zijn laatste gedicht\, ‘The Diceplayer’\, verkent hij thema’s als identiteit en humaniteit. Walid heeft deze diepgaande tekst omgevormd tot een indrukwekkende compositie die hij tijdens het concert zal uitvoeren\, waarmee hij het publiek zal raken. \n  \n\nMusical Tribute to Mahmoud Darwish: Walid Ben Selim at TivoliVredenburg\nOn 24 October\, Moroccan singer Walid Ben Selim will perform as part of the Arabic Crossroads series\, an initiative by Culture Connection in collaboration with various partners. This series provides a platform for artists from North Africa and the Middle East who build cultural bridges and convey a powerful message of solidarity and peace. \nOn Thursday 24 October\, Walid Ben Selim will perform at TivoliVredenburg\, where\, together with pianist Agathe Di Piro and qanun player Nidhal Jaoua\, he will present a musical tribute to Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. The evening will begin with an engaging opening programme featuring Maureen Ghazal\, Randa Awad\, and the Duniya & Musicaz choir. Before the concert\, visitors can enjoy Palestinian delicacies and browse books in the foyer. \nWalid Ben Selim\, who has previously collaborated with Utrecht-based artists such as DJ DNA and Jaber Fayad\, is known for his ability to weave Arabic poetry into a modern urban sound with his band N3rdistan. He also composes music for film and opera. \nMahmoud Darwish is recognised as the most important 20th-century poet of the Middle East.
